The best product to come out of a can and/or vending machine thus far. It’s simply not hampered by most of the problems that plague canned or vending items— the texture feels true, there's minimal metallic taste, there’s adequate salt, and even a touch of a creamy feel. Pleasant surprise.
Easily drinkable but the chocolate piece is much more towards the candy end of the spectrum than the cocoa end. There's also a hint of fruity aftertaste, just barely.
Shares the wet cardboard aftertaste that the cinnamon version had— a darker, intense chocolate experience, but hampered by the finish.
Hard to put a finger on it- but for me it tasted too much like the inside of the carton. Unremarkable, for sure, but the cocoa flavor wasn't as much ‘absent’ as it was ‘misdirected.’
Muted, yet inauthentic chocolate flavor that compares unfavorably even to Hershey’s Original. I’m not sure how effective the 5 additional calories (per 100mL) are here.
I was surprised to see ‘white chocolate’ milk pour out of the carton looking exactly like chocolate milk. There’s a little earthiness but not as pronounced as the [plain] chocolate version— but it’s too sweet to be taken seriously.
Dominant amaretto-ish flavor that some may really enjoy (boozy is not really my scene). It’s distinctive in that way, and the secondary attributes do well to support that flavor: adequate cream, salt, and a chalky exit that works.
There's a washed-out feel to the taste that leaves you wanting a bit more of a bite. It’s not offensive, but relatively uninteresting.
Mild metallic taste with an over-emulsified feel. Better than some other fortified drinks but from a flavor standpoint, I’d look elsewhere.
Much smoother than other Ovaltine products, but there’s not much aside from a pleasant brown sweetness. It's not offensive, but gives little incentive to continue.
Same fortified / metallic sort of taste as the fresh version with less of a fake-malty flavor. More enjoyable only because the strong flavor is less pronounced.
The taste fades too quickly— almost like there’s a wateriness to it that causes the flavor to exit right away. Easy to send down the hatch, but left with a “for what?” feeling.
There's something off about the texture— it’s fairly smooth but feels like it refuses to disperse naturally. Extremely light/gray, amply sweet but not very chocolaty. The sweetness has a fruity (grape-ish) undertone.
Unexciting, typical flavor profile of the big-jug chocolate milks. Nothing offensive, just enough to be ‘ok.’
Reminiscent of Fairlife in many regards, with its thin/smooth combination, noticeable cocoa flavor, and slight ‘uniqueness’ (not in a good way) to the sweetener. Decently potable lower-sugar and lactose free option if enjoyment is not your primary charter.
Fortunately not overly sweet, but unfortunately, not particularly ‘anything’ at all. Passes as chocolate milk, but does not excel in any identifiable form.
Extremely sweet, and leaves a bit of a residue on the inside of the mouth. There is some cocoa flavor, but the sweetness is overpowering. Also seems a bit artificially thickened for only a 1% fat version.
Nothing much registers in the front of the mouth, but you get a creamy aftertaste in the back. As you’re regretting the sip, you get a nice back-end quality that implores another sip, so here goes.. Yep, still lacking flavor.
Considerably more bland than the whole milk version— what happened to all the taste? There’s very little to move the needle in any convincing direction. The sweetness, salt, and cocoa seem to be competing for who can be the least prominent. Not gross or anything, but just boring.
