Alexandre Family Farm Organic Chocolate Milk

Powerful flavor comes at the expense of a heavy dose of chalk. Such strong cocoa presence, that it feels like the individual grains of powdered cacao are besieging your tongue with ‘total annihilation’ as their collective charter. Despite vigorous shaking, I couldn’t get all the cream to mix in (which would have mitigated some of the grainy coarseness). All things considered, it's a memorably potent and flavorful chocolate milk that has a place in this world as well as my refrigerator shelf.

Plains Dairy Premium Chocolate Milk

Excellent all-around flavor and texture, shading a bit to the sweet end of things, but it still feels responsible and focused on tasting how chocolate milk should. A salty snap puts a welcome finish on each sip— it’s a cheap date, but one you’ll look forward to taking out.

Sarah Farms Decadent Chocolate Milk

Densely packed and somewhat of a chalky feel— the flavor isn’t as bold as one might expect ‘decadent’ to deliver— but rather it’s a deeper, more sophisticated chocolate experience that improves over time. The sweetness and cocoa are balanced very well and provide lasting flavor beyond the swig.

Kleinpeter Chocolate Milk

Surprisingly muted sweetness, which affords the cocoa flavor an untethered frolic across your tastebuds. It carries a mature-feeling indulgence rather than an adolescent ‘candification’— it's well balanced in this regard and remains drinkable beyond those situations merely requiring a quick sugar fix.

Food Club Chocolate Milk

Creamy, smooth, and desserty without being overpoweringly flavorful in any direction. Malt is the most notable feature, and it’s executed well enough that pining for more chocolate would be an unlikely and perhaps unreasonable response.

Kalona Super Natural Organic Chocolate Milk

Thick, sweet, and uniquely flavored. There’s a sharpness that reminds me of canned soup (initially) though the more you have of it, the less odd it becomes. It definitely feels indulgent— due to the thickness and sweetness it’s difficult to drink a lot at once. Memorable, nonetheless.

Purity Chocolate Milk (pint)

Tons of flavor, with the cocoa nearly in equal proportion to the sweetness— providing a more mature, dessert-y type of feel that makes my heart sing. The creamy base does its job almost too well-- as it’s easy to drink too much of it too fast.

Prairie Farms Chocolate Milk

Strongly sweet, with an almost honey-ish bent; it fits together well with above-average saltiness and a super smooth and creamy medium. More cocoa wouldn’t hurt, but it’s far from broken and no need to fix it-- it’s objectively delicious.

Hope Eco-Farms Chocolate Milk From Grassfed Sheep

Powerful blast of flavor— cocoa, cream, and a salty butteriness that will cause your tongue to weep: emitting tears more closely associated with joy than sorrow. There’s no goaty twang, but an undeniably unique quality that is both fun and interesting. Once the liquid is gone, you have a drying chalkiness that isn’t terribly off-putting because the tasty flavor lingers alongside. A must-try for fans of chocolate milk!

Tony's Chocolonely

Intoxicating brown color, and a unique but enjoyable drinking experience. The sweetness decidedly has a ‘honey’ characteristic to it, but the cocoa is strong and the drink on the whole is rather substantial and filling. Lots of chalk, but the flavor delivers. You will want to brush your teeth afterward.

Miau Sokoladinis Pieno Gerimas

Great flavor explosion— chocolaty, sweet, salty, creamy— it's all there and well proportioned (a bit heavy on sweet, but that's a minor gripe considering). This is the only Lithuanian product I've been able to find in Vilnius, maybe other chocolate milk producers know they couldn’t top this.
