Mill-King CaCow Milk

Thin, grassy, and prominently acidic. The flavor immediately retreats to the center-rear of your tongue, and the sharp acidity makes the mouth water, more in defense than anticipation. One of the more unique chocolate milks I’ve had, both in terms of flavor and ingredients.

Purple Cow Lowfat Chocolate Milk

Pleasantly smooth but the flavor is a bit of a mystery. There’s very limited cocoa presence, and the sweetness has an almost fruity quality that will make you take a second look at the label in search of ‘artificial sweeteners.’ There aren’t any, but it tastes like there are.

Shamrock Farms Rockin' Protein Builder Chocolate

Beautifully brown, but fairly hollow flavor. The sweetness feels inauthentic, and overall it has a slight watery quality that washes away the rather mild taste anyway. It hides the protein-y flavor quite well— it’s definitely palatable, and tastier than many other ‘recovery’ oriented drinks, but it doesn't compare favorably to chocolate milk, especially the high standard that Shamrock Farms tends to deliver.

Neilson Trutaste Lactose Free Chocolate Milk

Rather powdery in a way that becomes more egregious once the liquid portion washes away. You're left with a virtual sand dune in your mouth that eventually grips your uvula, causing spontaneous (but manageable) glottal mucous production. The flavor is much less offensive and doesn’t rely too heavily on sweetness.

Lactel Sporteus Chocolat

Sticky, syrupy feel that is at least congruent with its heavy-handed sweetness. There's definitely chocolate involved (and it doesn't taste bad to be sure), but it’s drowned out in sugariness and feels like you’re drinking candy and not something of animal derivative.

Boni Choco Lait

Feels like average chocolate milk that’s been watered down just a little. It spends little time in your mouth, and never really gets a chance to establish much of a taste. It’s not offensive, but certainly not indulgent.

Chocomel Vers Mager

Doesn't carry the signature Chocomel flavor. Instead, it’s unbalanced toward the sweet side and also has a more watery base (it’s lower fat & lower cal, so not a surprise). The taste sacrifice here is not worth the caloric difference.

Tine Uten Tilsatt Sukker Kakao

Manages the ‘unsweet’ aspect rather well, as the liquid cascades easily down the hatch with nary a fight. There’s not a lot of flavor; the highlight being a malty finish that becomes evident only in retrospect, but the fact that it's not offensive earns some points given its rather austere nutritional stats.

Tine Litago & Stratos Milkshake

Oddly seems to amount to less than the sum of its parts, possibly due to my aversion to ‘thickened' products. It’s very sweet and chocolaty, but the sweetness causes the cocoa to veer undesirably into ‘candy’ territory. It’s more salty than creamy, and feels a bit artificial in the mouth.
