Strongly sour cocoa taste that doesn't apologize for its boldness-- nor should it. There is a bit of chalk along for the ride, and it slightly impacts the otherwise creamy medium, but overall, it’s a deliciously quick way to add 310 calories to your daily ledger.
Fantastically creamy with a wild edge that provides a truly welcome and interesting character. (I was fortunate to try both the glass and plastic bottle versions, and in my case, the cream mixed much more evenly in the plastic— and that is the experience that I will review.) The cream-to-viscosity ratio is perfectly delivered, and though all other attributes are more than competent, they almost become moot when this ratio is nailed to the degree it is here.
Strikes a fantastic balance of thinner viscosity with remarkable creaminess—perhaps the hardest thing to get ‘right’ for so many producers. It’s delicious and sophisticated feeling, though light on actual cocoa flavor. The ‘blindfold test’ might have more people guessing ‘vanilla’ as the flavor, but it remains a worthwhile pursuit for the chocolate milk enthusiast.
Buttery creaminess affords the cocoa a more prominent role and kindly ushers you into a delicious and satisfying aftertaste. Further proof that chocolate milk doesn't have to be complicated to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Powerful flavor comes at the expense of a heavy dose of chalk. Such strong cocoa presence, that it feels like the individual grains of powdered cacao are besieging your tongue with ‘total annihilation’ as their collective charter. Despite vigorous shaking, I couldn’t get all the cream to mix in (which would have mitigated some of the grainy coarseness). All things considered, it's a memorably potent and flavorful chocolate milk that has a place in this world as well as my refrigerator shelf.
Wow— super strong cocoa flavor, paired with a mature, undersweet sourness that delivers a haymaker of deliciousness! It offers what I desire most in chocolate milk exceedingly well— creaminess unencumbered by viscosity, brilliantly indulgent and punchy mature cocoa flavor, and a unique had-nearly-one-thousand-chocolate-milks-but-nothing-quite-like-this factor that puts this into rarefied orbit for me.
Slight powdery chocolate quality that leaves some grainy residue when it's all said and done, but it’s a bit creamier and more chocolaty than average. Not bad for a highly portable, financially reasonable organic chocolate milk.
Thin, grassy, and prominently acidic. The flavor immediately retreats to the center-rear of your tongue, and the sharp acidity makes the mouth water, more in defense than anticipation. One of the more unique chocolate milks I’ve had, both in terms of flavor and ingredients.
Wow- quite an interesting experience! It’s an odd combination of very thin (almost watery) and yet it carries a strong wild / grass-fed flavor that stands out. Its non-homogenous dark gray coloration really sets it apart as well. I usually reward uniqueness when it comes to the scores, but in this case, the flavor just isn’t what I’m looking for in a chocolate milk. That said, I will remember this product for a long time, and recommend chocolate milk lovers to give it the ol’ college try if you’re able.
Beautiful to look at (outside the box) and the unique flavor treads carefully between cocoa and malt. Its saltiness greets you with a firm handshake and polices the aftertaste strictly but fairly.
Excellent creamy-yet-not-overly-thick texture and feel, but nearly flavorless otherwise. Chocolate flavor is very hard to locate, and not much sweetness, salt, or malt to fill in the dead space. It’s still enjoyable due to the cream, but not nearly what it could be. I could convince myself that there was a tiny bit of anise flavor as well (which I’m sure there isn’t).
Thick, sweet, and uniquely flavored. There’s a sharpness that reminds me of canned soup (initially) though the more you have of it, the less odd it becomes. It definitely feels indulgent— due to the thickness and sweetness it’s difficult to drink a lot at once. Memorable, nonetheless.
Has a unique, sharp malt flavor that outshines the cocoa flavor but should maintain your interest throughout. The powerful malt accentuates the ‘creamy’ aspect over the ‘sweet’ one, and it works rather well here.
Thin, creamy (we cheated by using a blender, as tireless manual shaking couldn’t break up all the chunks of cream), and a prominent but slightly powdery chocolate flavor. The cream is really difficult to incorporate fully, as it becomes foamy and wants to ride atop the drink. As such, the flavor gets washed out toward the end by a watery feel. It’s unique, and not miles apart from cows milk— only the aftertaste hints at difference, be it species or the grassfed-ness.
Powerful blast of flavor— cocoa, cream, and a salty butteriness that will cause your tongue to weep: emitting tears more closely associated with joy than sorrow. There’s no goaty twang, but an undeniably unique quality that is both fun and interesting. Once the liquid is gone, you have a drying chalkiness that isn’t terribly off-putting because the tasty flavor lingers alongside. A must-try for fans of chocolate milk!
The flavor is marked by a somewhat sharp (initial) sweetness that distributes evenly a split second after it hits the tongue, leaving you with mild cocoa flavor and a rich milky texture that you will want to experience again.
Excellent punch of cocoa enveloped in a buttery creaminess that seems beyond what 2% milk fat should be capable of. I could easily down the entire bottle, which would cause me to be more disturbed by the sight of the empty vessel than at the gluttonous lust it took to achieve it.
No hint of rum that I sensed in the carton version, just a velvety, malty, melted-ice cream deliciousness. The saltiness is dialed to the perfect notch; in short— it tastes every bit as beautiful as it looks.
Noticeably darker and thicker than the fresh Organic Meadow in the carton. It still had a mature flavor, accentuated by a high creaminess and low sweetness. All in all, a delicious UHT asset to the OM portfolio.
