Noticeably more chocolaty with a pleasant back-end grassiness to the cream. A marked improvement over the original Horizon chocolate milk— a step up from the previous blandness whilst keeping sweetness rightfully in the background.
Nicely punchy flavor that lives up to its attractive aesthetics— too bad most people will never see it outside of its Tetra Pak enclosure. Thin, smooth, and appropriately balanced salty-sweet levers, this is a shelf-stable chocolate milk that would serve as a great punctuation to anyone’s bagged lunch.
Refreshingly unsweet, with a heft that would suggest more flavor than it actually carries. There’s a bit of an aftertaste that is a departure from ‘milky’ or ‘chocolaty’ but overall, its focus on cocoa (without a sugary crutch) is unique and honorable.
Strongly competent in all categories, a fairly straight-down-the-middle reduced fat chocolate milk. It doesn’t take any risks, nor should it— it’s nice the way it is. The highlights are its stronger than average cocoa flavor and clean finish.
Pleasant base and somewhat bland upfront, though the cocoa shows up and makes an impact in the latter part of the sip— and it makes a good enough impression that you want another.
I appreciate the high cocoa-to-sweetness ratio that rightly affords chocolate the lion’s share of the limelight. The thinner than average viscosity breezes through the palate and ushers its flavor quickly and competently, but without much creamy sustain.
Solidly fundamental in a way that makes you overlook its low-fat nature. Everything falls nicely into place and it doesn’t feel cheap like the gallon jug behemoths at the typical large supermarket.
Brilliantly creamy base with a nontraditional cookies & cream flavor that is sweet upfront but exits with a mildly sooty footprint.
Coarse, chocolaty, and a not-quite-‘soapy’ sourness that distracts from the rest of the flavors. It’s appropriately under-sweet and responsible feeling— it’s just held back by the odd competing flavor that pulls you out of the experience.
Unique combination of ‘milky’ flavor with a modestly earthy cocoa tinge. It has an excellent look and feel, and when you’re finished, you have one of the most attractive milk cartons ever made to do with as you wish (mantle piece?).
Sweet and salt are understated, but not missed, as its subtle cocoa flavor and an adequately creamy base give this a more ‘responsible’ than ‘recreational’ feel.
Decent balance of flavor that delves bravely into salty / caramel territory and is better for it. An above-average gallon with distinctive flavor and deceptively comely aesthetics.
Chocolaty and salty— not a terrible flavor combination for a product attempting to be indulgent without upping the fat content. It’s very pleasant, though the aftertaste deteriorates into a cloying sweetness after the other flavors dissipate.
A searing sweetness pierces through the formidable chocolate flavor, and ultimately sets the back of your throat ablaze with small, sugary lightning bolts. It still tastes ‘good’ but is a bit gluttonous with the ‘sweet’ lever. Avoid if you’re prone to diabetic shock.
Drinks very well— there’s a cleanness to the finish that is garnished with salt and malt. There’s also some chalk involved, but given the flavor, it seems to have a purpose and therefore does not stand out as a drawback.
Sweet and curiously under-chocolaty— it drinks like a sweetened half & half— not the worst thing under the sun, but an interesting profile choice for chocolate milk.
Decent cocoa flavor (perhaps with hints of caramel), however the texture woes noticed in the Reduced Fat version are present here as well. It feels unnecessarily thick and the creaminess doesn’t disperse in a natural-feeling way. There’s plenty to like about the flavor here, but the manner in which it's delivered takes me out the experience.
Pleasantly flavorful chocolate milk highlighted by a noticeable salty snap that maintains your interest throughout. Texture-wise, it’s smooth and unobtrusive; overall a solid lowfat private label find.
Much more ‘milky’ feeling than the low fat (lactose-containing) version. The flavor is also much more in line with what you would expect and likely prefer— amply chocolaty with a kiss of malt.
